As the cost of energy keeps rising and more and more folks struggle to pay their electric and heating bills, I sit back and am relieved to know that I went ahead with my gut instincts to build my own solar & wind power system for my home.

My home is a very large farm house that sits in the open countryside without much protection from the elements, and I was really starting to feel the pinch when the cost of propane kept rising.

I had to do something....and quick!

I did all of the typical things. I insulated doors and windows, sealing off every crack I could find. But I knew that wasn't going to be enough. I was facing pretty hefty gas and electric bills every winter and, being in the northern part of Ohio, it can get pretty cold!

I was slowly being ate up by my energy bills. If this kept up, I would keep falling behind, year after year. Except that the rate was increasing, and fast.

I started checking out new furnaces and what not. But that didn't seem to be the answer. They were going to cost way too much and it would take me years to make up the difference in savings.

I jumped on the internet and started to look for alternative energy options. I checked out the commercially made wind turbines but, same as the new energy-efficient furnaces, the initial cost was too much and I new I wasn't going to be any better off financially. I needed something cheap and now!
